That my friends is a 16 x 40 LED display (640 pixels) made with WS2801 LEDs, Club Mate bottles and Club Mate crates. That's the part that really impressed me. The addition of crates is a fantastic hack. It's all running off an IBM launchpad (perhaps I should look at the one that was in the 2012 OHS goodie bag...) and an old laptop.
First set up at CCC's 30th Congress this has been expanded to its current size and one would assume the makers are right now drinking Club Mate and thinking of what to do next (as the bottles stack up).
